Costao: Nawazuddin’s New Fight Against Crime and Corruption

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is coming out with a new movie called “Costao”, where he plays a real customs officer from Goa. The story is about Costao Fernandes, who fought against gold smugglers in the 1990s. Nawazuddin said he liked this role because Costao seemed happy on the outside but was hiding a lot of pain inside. The movie shows how he stood up against a corrupt system and tried hard to protect his family.
Even though Nawazuddin has done many amazing roles in movies like Gangs of Wasseypur and Manto, he feels Bollywood still judges actors by how they look. He said that in other countries, being a good actor is enough, but here, they divide actors into groups like “hero” and “superstar,” mostly based on appearance, not real talent.
Nawazuddin also talked about other great actors like Irrfan Khan, Manoj Bajpayee, and Naseeruddin Shah. Even though everyone says they are brilliant actors, they were never given really big-budget movies. He feels that Bollywood still doesn’t fully trust actors who don’t fit the “typical hero” look, and that this problem has been there for a long time.
Still, Nawazuddin keeps working hard and choosing strong and meaningful roles. With “Costao”, he’s once again showing that real acting is about emotion and truth, not just about looks. He wants to keep playing characters that have real stories to tell, no matter what Bollywood’s rules are.
