Nikita Roy: A Fresh Thriller Marks Kussh Sinha’s First Film

Nikita Roy is an upcoming Bollywood film directed by Kussh S. Sinha, who is the son of veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha and brother of actress Sonakshi Sinha. This is Kussh’s first film as a director. The movie stars Sonakshi in the lead role, along with actors Paresh Rawal and Arjun Rampal. The film is set to release in theatres on June 27, on the same day as Kajol’s film Maa. However, Kussh says he is not worried about the clash because both movies are very different.
The film is a mix of different genres, including supernatural, mystery, and thriller. Kussh says he wanted to make something fresh and unique instead of following the usual Bollywood formula. He believes that giving something new to the audience is the best way to stand out. He also mentioned that every character in the film has a clear reason for their actions, and the story is not just random or mindless. The main character, played by Sonakshi, faces a powerful and mysterious figure played by Paresh Rawal.
Kussh has been planning to become a director for many years. He worked as an assistant director on movies like Saawariya and Besharam, and even made a short film in 2017. The journey to direct Nikita Roy took time because of delays, including the COVID-19 pandemic. During this time, he worked more on the script and got help from experienced people like Abhinav Kashyap. Kussh believes that good content takes time and that every film has its own right moment to be made.
For the cast, Kussh said he was lucky to work with big talents. Paresh Rawal was interested in his character, a spiritual leader named Amar Dev, and joined after two meetings. Arjun Rampal joined just before filming his part. Sonakshi chose the role because it gave her a strong character to play, and she had even said no to some earlier scripts Kussh had shown her. The film was shot in the UK, not as a trend, but because the story fit better with those locations.
Kussh understands that box office results are important, but says it’s not fully in the filmmaker’s control. He believes if a movie is made on a reasonable budget and has good content, it will do well. He also says it’s important to listen to honest feedback and keep improving. As his debut film releases, he feels thankful and confident that the team gave their best. He hopes that Nikita Roy will connect with the audience and show that new ideas still have a place in Bollywood.
